BLAST FROM THE PAST.
This one dropped into our laps just a few weeks before go-time with only a theme and a date.
No menu, no rentals, no design, but all we thought was no problem.
When our client asked for a full-on '90s nostalgia experience to welcome their new CEO, we knew it was time to dust off the neon, crank up the boy bands, and create an event that was all that and a bag of chips
THE DESIGN -
RETRO PLAYGROUND
We wanted to create a custom event design that took the best elements of classic pop culture references and combine it with elevated production elements to make the event feel playful without sacrificing the impact. From hunting for iconic elements like Care Bears, neon boomboxes, and classic characters, to hand-painting a custom Mario Kart photo op wall, every detail was thoughtfully placed to take guests back in time.
We scattered colorful lighting design and elements among our rentals to create that child-like environment that the 80s and 90s embodied. And no event is complete without the music. So we connected with the perfect DJ, and decked out the stage, to throw the ultimate block party.
To take the nostalgia on the go, we designed and produced fun giveaway Rubik's Cubes and beaded friendship necklaces for guests to pick from.
Great design isn't just about how an event looks—it's the feeling it creates.
THE GRUB -
SAVED BY THE SNACKS
Our catering team knew that capturing the spirit of the '80s and '90s meant creating food experiences that were just as vibrant and energetic as the era itself. Beyond selecting delicious menu offerings, they carefully curated colorful, interactive food stations that became part of the event's visual experience. Bright presentations, playful flavors, and nostalgic touches helped transform dining into entertainment.
Of course, no retro-inspired celebration would be complete without the snacks. Guests gravitated to a custom candy-coated popcorn station featuring vibrant flavors served in nostalgic retro boxes, while a gelato station added a classic throwback twist. Complete with a server dressed as a vintage malt shop attendant, the experience blended nostalgia, whimsy, and guest interaction—bringing the fun, carefree spirit of the decade to life one sweet treat at a time.
TOTALLY TUBULAR!
We lost a lot of Care Bears and boomboxes that night—but we’ll take stolen keepsakes as a sign of success. The energy was electric, and no one wanted to leave the dancefloor.
From floorplans and logistics, to on-site execution and troubleshooting, our team managed every detail to ensure a seamless event from start to finish. Between the detailing, long load in of equipment, and high energy food service, managing over 50 staff members can be a task. But we are lucky to have a team of people that believe in our craziness.
